The Alliance is bringing awareness to overdose prevention on International Overdose Awareness Day (Thursday, August 31). In 2016, New York City had 1,374 confirmed overdose deaths - a 46% increase from 2015. The Alliance is working to prevent future overdoses by offering free Naloxone training at the Lower East Side Harm Reduction Center (LESHRC).
Naloxone is a medication that reverses overdoses from opioids such as heroin and prescription painkillers. New Yorkers can get this free life-saving medication without prescription at many community-based organizations including LESHRC.
A free training on how to use Naloxone will be held at the Lower East Side Harm Reduction Center (25 Allen Street) starting at 2:30 PM. Trainings last approximately 45 minutes to an hour.
If you are interested in being trained, but cannot attend this date, please call 212-226-6333 to make an appointment.
